SAMPLE WORKSHOPS

C3 Mission Opportunities on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with Bill Connolly

The Presbytery’s Hurricane Katrina relief efforts are ongoing, and constantly evolving based on regular assessments of current needs. In this workshop, Bill will give an up–to–date briefing on what our Presbytery has done and is doing,as well as what is being planned for the future.

A1 "Lending a Helping Hand in the Delta"

by Tom Lehman

People are constantly asking, "we know the needs are great, but how can we help?” The Mississippi Delta has one of the highest levels of unemployment and lowest per capita incomes in the nation. Dr.Lehman and others will offer tangible ways that individuals and congregations can address the needs of the poor who live among us.

A2 "Bridging the Gaps: the church down the street" with Kent Landry

A conversation about the similarities and differences between various denominations; such as Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal, Nondenominational, Presbyterian, etc. Bring your questions for discussion.

A5 Spirituality and Pottery

with Ann Laird Jones

This will be a hands on opportunity to explore new ideas in the growing field of Arts and Theology, through clay. We will offer several hand building projects which you can use in your church for Lenten workshops, or Vacation Bible School, or just about any time, as well as instruction on the wheel. Ann’s life long zeal is for churches in the Presbytery of St. Andrew to start potteries and arts ministries of their own! Please bring an apron or old t–shirt. Limit: 12 (like the disciples).

A7 Spirituality and Healing in Medicine

Keith Mansel

This workshop will consider the role of spiritual practices in medicine and clinical care; explore the place of intercessory prayer in healing and health; and discuss the physiologic, neurologic, and clinical effects of spirituality.
