Stork Report
Congratulations also to Jonathan & Shea Garner on the birth of their daughter, Caitlyn Shea Garner. She was born on October 20th in Oxford. Caitlyn weighed 6 lbs., 5 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. She is the granddaughter of Andrew and Beth Garner, and the great granddaughter of Mrs. Billie Garner.
Thanks From Pastor Karen
Thank you all so very much for the lovely reception Sunday. After a few short weeks with you, I felt so very honored by your kindness. The flowers are beautiful; I have kept them on my desk so I can enjoy them each day. Every pastor likes to be appreciated and I certainly do feel appreciated by BPC.
Please remember that you had a great search committee to find an interim. Bill Mundroff, Laurie Monteith and Paulette Norman were like my best friends after our first telephone conversation. I promise to serve you, members and friends of the Batesville Presbyterian Church, to the best of my God-given ability, as long as I am your pastor.
Many thanks to all of you who helped with my move this past week. Slowly, the boxes are being emptied, and soon it will feel like home. Your help has made the “call” to Batesville Presbyterian Church a real testament to Christian love.
Many of you have asked about my brother, John, and you have added him to your prayers. Thank you. John continues radiation for his brain cancer. He travels to Boulder, CO from his home in Firestone, CO each weekday for radiation treatments. In the evening, he takes a chemotherapy pill called temador before bed. It does create nausea, so his medical team is trying to control that right now. Just this week, the FDA released a new drug for glioblastoma multiforma (John’s cancer), and my sister-in-law will be talking to John’s doctor about it this week. Again, thank you for your prayers and your concern.

Operation Christmas Child Challenge
The PW Night Circle challenges all other groups within the church to fill at least 5 boxes each for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes should be brought to the Harvest Supper on Nov. 11th. Parents, what better way to teach your children how blessed they are, than by showing them how much joy a shoebox of gifts can bring to children in desperate situations around the world? Brochures with guidelines and gift ideas may be picked up in the church hallway by the East entrance.
Fall Stewardship Campaign
Our theme for the stewardship campaign this fall is “Share our Bounty - to nourish the fruits of the spirit.”
On the next four Sundays in church, you will hear from church members during a ‘Minute for Mission’, explaining what Batesville Presbyterian Church has meant to them, and how the church’s ministry has enhanced their lives and faith.
Please begin to prayerfully consider your pledge for 2008. Stewardship Drive letters with pledge cards will be mailed to each home soon. Together, we can share and nourish this congregation.
Reception for Pastor Karen
Not only do we want to welcome her to our church family, but also to honor her during National Pastor Appreciation Month.

Fall Picnic 10/7/07
Thanks in advance to all of the deacons and others who put so much work into these picnics! PYF and SNL will NOT meet on the 7th due to the picnic.
A Note From Pastor Karen
Thank you very much for the kind welcome to Batesville and the Batesville Presbyterian Church. The last few days have been full ones.
Meeting and greeting everyone at church on Sunday was a real treat for me. Sitting in the sanctuary, listening to David Honnoll sing his sermon, and having the Pittman family lead worship at the eleven o’clock service further assured me of the deep faith and God-given talent in this church.
On Tuesday, Paulette Norman, Brad Clark and I traveled to Starkville for the October meeting of St. Andrew Presbytery. Our Session minute book was read and approved; I was “examined” and approved, too. Friends in Christ, we are on our way!
I look forward to meeting all of you and promise to learn your names, and to the best of my ability, share the good news of Jesus Christ with you all.
Thanks from SNL
Operation Christmas Child
Dollar Tree is a great place to find things, but let your imagination lead you to other stores, too! This year we will deliver them to FBC, so do your best to make as many as possible! As soon as you have made yours, bring it to the work room at the church. We will have a brief blessing of the boxes before the Harvest Supper on a date to be announced soon.
